Date: Monday September 30th, 2019 Time: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Location: Mohawk 1 Classroom, Brantford General Hospital Speaker: Bernice King, Member of Minister’s Patient & Family Advisory Council & St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Patient & Family Advisory Council
Bernice retired from the health care industry in 2003, and became a Patient Advisor in 2015 after a lived experience. She is presently co-chairing The Hamilton Health Team (Ontario Health Team) full proposal for submission to the Ministry. Bernice served on the Minister’s Patient & Family Advisory Council between 2017 – 2019, where she was able to broaden her influence and affect positive change across the healthcare landscape. She is currently a member of the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Patient & Family Advisory Council.
Bernice’s work experiences provided her additional opportunities to teach, manage, and participate in research projects – skills that empowered her to educate herself about her own health care. Inspired to always continue learning, she has a thorough knowledge of her present state of health, and researches looking for evidence based care when a new health issue arises.
